Chapter 3
(Bella)
She sat up, yawning loudly. Sunlight poured through into the room that made the light blue walls seem white. She looked over at Aaron’s small bed on the opposite side of the room facing a small window, where he was asleep, still in the clothes he had worn yesterday. So he had decided to come back, she thought. He actually looked kind of peaceful, like a child.
She walked slowly toward the bathroom, her leg still aching from the night’s events.
“Time to replace the bandages…” She muttered to herself, reaching for the bandages in the counter under the small dusty sink. She sat on the closed toilet, changing out her bandages carefully. When Aaron had left her last night, she had gotten a call for her to come immediately to the Supermarket. Bella, or the great superhero, Celeste, had gotten quickly into costume and flown to the Supermarket swiftly where she had a quick run in with her arch enemy, Lunar. Lunar was a tall masked new villain of North Carolina who could turn invisible by will in costume.
Celeste had been able to fly since she was a baby. At first it was only floating, and a quick incident with a fire when she was a child, but soon she could learn to control her powers. She soon realized that she was able to summon small balls of light from her palm. They could light up dark areas and she could also throw them at people, causing either a small fire in the area thrown, or there would only be a pile of ash where she had thrown it, depending on how concentrated she was.
Soon she had created a costume, which she had made in her dad's lab. It was a full body armor suit made of nearly blinding white fire proof material and a long silk golden cape on the back, which had been insisted she wore by everyone. She also wore special golden gloves, which protected her hand from the burning balls of light.
As she finished wrapping the bandages around her leg, she heard movement in the main room. She slammed the bathroom door shut from Aaron.
“Just a second!” she called, turning back to her wounded leg.
“Yeah, sure,” Aaron said boredly, slumping against the bathroom door.
“Just hurry though, I’ve got to do some stuff.” His muffled voice sounded through the door. She sighed, slipping on a long silky black skirt that hid her bandages and a plain peach v-neck shirt. She pulled her black afro down, pinning in to her head till it eventually became a large messy bun on top of her head.
“Alright, I’m done!” She opened the door quickly and noiselessly and heard a loud thud on the wooden bathroom floor.
“You couldn’t have given me a heads up?” He moaned, rubbing his head.
“Sorry,” She apologized, creeping around him slowly.
“What happened to your poor left arm?” She asked noticing his roughly bandaged arm.
“None of your buis-” Aaron started, getting up.
“No, it is my business. I have some bandages in the counter, let me help you wrap it up.” She said, walking in after him without hesitation.
“I seriously don’t need your help wrapping up my arm, I’m not five.” He said stubbornly, sitting down on the toilet.
“Really?” She said sarcastically, looking at his poorly wrapped bandage, crossing her arms. “Fine,” He rolled his eyes.
“I’m left handed, it’s not exactly a simple task to wrap up your left arm.” He said, letting his arm go limp as she grabbed it gently, unraveling the bandages carefully.
“You seem to have a lot of experience with bandages,” He commented with a hint of sensitivity.
“Do tell.”
He smirked lightly, as she looked up at him with her warm brown eyes.
“I get into more fights then I’d like to admit.” She said quietly, eyes traveling back down to his now bare arm.
“I guess that makes the both of us.” He laughed lightly.
“Oh really,” She said with a questioning tone in her voice, looking up slightly at the taller boy.
“Do tell.” She said humorously, mocking Aaron’s scratchy deep voice.
“Well, I know I don’t look like the type to get into mischief,” He paused as she rolled her eyes.
“I happened to have gotten into a bit of an argument with someone last night.” He finished, lying a bit.
“Yeah? Well, don’t do it again. I can’t live alone, so don’t get into any more arguments. Got it?” She asked, finishing the bandages quickly.
“I’ll try.” He said with a bit of humor in his voice as he got up, offering her a hand. She took it, standing up.
“You’re hands are very warm, miss Isabella.” He smiled. She smiled back, shoving him gently.
“It's just Bella.” She smirked, walking out slowly, holding her hand close to her chest. Maybe Aaron wasn’t too bad.
“Got it, Isabella.” He joked, walking past her. She smiled softly to herself.
Or, maybe not.
